Public Description:  

S. 1269, the ENFORCE Act, would establish, within Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the National Border Neighborhood Watch (NBNW), which would authorize retired law enforcement officers to assist Border Patrol agents by reporting illegal border crossings, and would allow civilian volunteers to participate in the NBNW, provided CBP-defined criteria are met; would provide for fencing and security improvements along the southern U.S. border from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico, including creation and control of a specified border zone; and would require a study and report on the use of technology at the borders and in the interior to prevent unlawful immigration.
