Public Description:

The bill would combat identity theft and unlawful employment of illegal aliens by requiring the Social Security Administration (SSA) to investigate if it receives W-2 forms with the same Social Security number (SSN) but different addresses; and would require the SSA, if it finds evidence of fraudulent activity (i.e., eight or more instances within a calendar year in which the SSA receives a W-2 under the same SSN and at at least four different addresses are provided in those W-2s in connection with that same SSN), to notify DHS, the Attorney General, the Treasury Department, and the SSN’s rightful bearer.

To amend title II of the Social Security Act to provide that individuals and appropriate authorities are notified by the Commissioner of Social Security of evidence of misuse of the Social Security account numbers of such individuals.
