Public Description:  

H.R. 1117, REAL ID Repeal and Identification Security Enhancement Act of 2007, would repeal the REAL ID Act's provisions implementing secure driver's license/ID card standards; would prohibit a Federal agency from accepting a driver's license or identification card newly issued by a state more than two years after minimum standards are publicized, unless the license or card conforms to those standards; would require states to be in full compliance with those minimum standards within five years of the standards being issued; and would require DHS to award grants to states to assist them in conforming with minimum standards for driver's licenses and identification cards as established pursuant to this bill.
