Public Description:  

H.R. 5533, the Recognizing American Children Act, would grant amnesty to 2.1 million illegal aliens who were brought to the United States when they were under the age of 16 and have been in the country since 2010. The bill would require that illegal aliens have a GED, is admitted to college, or "valid work authorization", have good moral character, aren't inadmissible or deportable under several categories, haven't been convicted of a felony or 3 misdemeanors on different days, and haven't been under a final order of exclusion, deportation, or removal. Recipients can renew their status after 5 years and apply for a green card between years 5 and 10.
