Opposed illegal alien in-state tuition and amnesty bill in 2002
Sen. ZZlastnameZZ spoke against S. 1291 when it was marked up by the Senate Judiciary Committee in June of 2002. This legislation, also known as the DREAM Act of 2002, would have allowed states to grant in-state tuition to certain illegal aliens who have attended public high school in the U.S. As for the numeric impact of this bill, the most significant aspect of S. 1291 was the provision that would have granted amnesty to these illegal aliens students who are college-bound or likely to graduate from high school.
