Sen. Graham says he'll back out of amnesty bill if foreign labor not cheap enough (But S.C. voter concerns don't affect him)

The bottom line seems to be that Graham will not step away from the comprehensive amnesty bill no matter how many unemployed South Carolinians, their families and friends say it would hurt them. BUT he WILL turn against the amnesty -- he WILL BACK DOWN -- if the cheap-labor employers say the amnesty bill would require them to pay the foreign workers too much (thus encouraging them to hire jobless South Carolinians instead.

'The Uninvited' -- Rosemary Jenks: Amnesty would give terrorists 'Brand New' identities

Published:

At Breitbart News' "The Uninvited" Panel during CPAC last weekend, Rosemary Jenks, the director of government relations for Numbers USA, told the packed audience that Republicans have not thoroughly considered and discussed how giving amnesty to 11-12 million illegal immigrants would allow terrorists to receive brand new identities, cost the government $2.5 trillion dollars over their lifetime, and create more Democrats.

Sen. Sessions: Guest Worker Program will hurt Unemployed Americans

Sen. Jeff Sessions

The Senate Gang of Eight that's working on a bipartisan "comprehensive immigration reform" bill are working out the details on an expansive guest-worker program that could allow temporary workers to qualify for a green card after one year. Sen. Sessions said a guest worker program would hurt unemployed Americans, especially the most vulnerable Americans.

Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) offered an amendment on Friday to a budget bill passed by the Senate that would have prevented any illegal aliens that receive amnesty from accessing taxpayer-funded healthcare, including Medicaid or subsidized plans provided as part of the Affordable Health Care Act. The amendment was voted down 43-to-56, including being voted down by four Members of the Gang of Eight.

Obama Administration Blocked Border Security Measurements to Prevent it from Impeding Immigration Reform

Pres. Obama

Published:

The Obama Administration admitted on Thursday that it resisted efforts by the Department of Homeland Security to create a way to measure border security because it was concerned the measurement would be used to block immigration reform that provides an amnesty to the nation's 11-19 million illegal aliens. The news came after a House Committee hearing on Wednesday where DHS officials said they failed to create a measurement system after telling Congress that it would two years ago.

Several Tea Party Leaders Back Sen. Paul’s Amnesty Approach

Several leaders of Tea Party groups expressed support for Sen. Rand Paul's amnesty proposal despite the fact that it runs contrary to the basic tenets of such groups – reducing the size and cost of government. Rules for Addressing Amnesty

Republicans are getting a lot of unsolicited advice about how to recover from last year's defeat, and most of it is either ignorant or coming from people who don't have Republican party victories in their game plan. One of the worst of these bits of advice is that Republicans should join a bipartisan push for immigration amnesty.

Construction Workers are Latest Roadblock for Gang of Eight

Published:

As the Senate Gang of Eight try to complete their "comprehensive immigration reform" bill that will include an amnesty for the nation's 11 million illegal aliens, an expansive guest worker program that would include visas for construction workers is the latest stumbling block. Business groups are concerned that the GOP Members of the Gang have given in too much to union demands.

Some things you didn't hear about the Brookings poll purporting public support for amnesty

The report is attractive, thick and has a lot of impressive-sounding academic language, including some helpful findings.  But the news out of the latest Brookings Institute polling claiming majority support for amnesty does not give an accurate picture of what already was not a very credible poll.

'Amnesty' could doom overhaul

Published:

"Unless you are removed from the United States, you're getting an amnesty," said Rosemary Jenks, director of government affairs at NumbersUSA, a group that pushes for reduced immigration. "The open border advocate side has turned it into a pejorative word. Amnesty is forgiving the violation of a law without applying the penalties under the law."

Deportation is one of the penalties for being caught in this country illegally, though the ongoing presence of 11 million people is testament to how rarely that's applied.

Lindsey Graham doing everything possible to avoid constituents

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina has been leading the charge for amnesty since the beginning of the year.  He is a member of the Senate's Gang of 8, which laid out their amnesty proposal- calling it a "pathway to citizenship"- in January.   Since all of this immigration reform talk started, Lindsey Graham has not held a town hall in South Carolina to get his constituents' views on the issue.  He has not done a survey through his Congressional website on immigration either.  The reason for this is obvious: Senator Graham already knows where his constituents stand on amnesty.  They don't want it.  And he doesn't care.

Tech Industry not united on 'Comprehensive Immigration Reform'

The U.S. tech industry has been a central part of the "comprehensive immigration reform" debate in Congress this year. Representatives from the tech community have testified before both the House and Senate Judiciary Committees speaking to the need for an increase in tech-trained foreign workers, but a new report from Politico reveals that a few tech firms may be more interested in satisying its immigration needs than pushing for an amnesty for the nation's 11 million illegal aliens.

We are told that reforming immigration policy and combating climate change are two key policy goals of President Obama as he begins his second term. But there is no evidence that the Obama administration sees any connection between them. This despite the fact that the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has identified population growth as one of the two key drivers of climate change; and that most of the increase in U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in the past two decades has occurred due to population growth, while per capita emissions have remained relatively flat.

Daily Amnesty Update: On Immigration, White House = Gang of Eight

Sen. Hagan

More than a few columnists and political analysts have picked up on the fact that there's not much difference between the Senate Gang of Eight's immigration principles and the leaked White House immigration plan that Gang Member Marco Rubio so loathes.

In Tuesday's Washington Post, liberal columnist and MSNBC political analyst Eugene Robinson wrote

No Difference Between Leaked White House Plan and Gang of Eight Plan

Sen. McCain & Pres. Obama

Published:

While Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said the White House's leaked immigration plan was an attempt to politicize the immigration debate and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said it would be "dead on arrival", the actual details of the two plans are essentially the same - they both grant instant amnesty to the nation's 11 million illegal aliens and neither bill does anything to stop future illegal immigration or protect America's unemployed.

Sen. Sessions: Very little difference between WH and Senate plans

Sen. Sessions

Sen. Jeff Session (R-Ala.) said on Monday that the White House immigration proposal leaked over the weekend is very similar to the outline presented by the Gang of Eight last month. Sen. Sessions noted that both plans grant all 11 million illegal aliens with the right to work and live in the United States on day one.

White House Defends Leaked Amnesty Plan

Obama, 'Gang of Eight' duck the hardest question

Immigration policy comes down to two questions: "Who gets in?" and "How many get in?" In the end, Washington has to decide the numbers. One hundred and fifty million adults worldwide want to permanently immigrate to the U.S. today, according to a Gallup poll. The United States government is going to say "no" to most them. But the Senate and the White House refuse to acknowledge reality. They have presented Utopian proposals where anyone in the world can get a U.S. work permit except terrorists and ax murderers.

Immigration Reform Issue: The Effect on the Budget

It’s hard to say with precision what impact offering citizenship would have on the budget, but the chances are good that it would cost the government money. Half to three-quarters of illegal immigrants pay taxes, according to studies reviewed in a 2007 report by the Congressional Budget Office. And they are relatively inexpensive, compared with Americans of similar incomes. Their children can attend public schools at government expense — putting a burden on state and local budgets.
