Breitbart News reports on Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo’s interview with House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., during which he admitted immigration limitations are not part of the 2016 Republican job-centric “pro-growth” agenda. “We’re not going to be talking about visa caps in our agenda,” Ryan said. This runs contrary to recent Pew polling which found that 67 percent of Republican voters want immigration reduced while only seven percent want more.

Sens. Sessions and Cruz Introduce New Bill To Help ICE Agents Enforce Immigration Laws

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) introduced the ICE Agent Support Act of 2016 (S.2538) this week that would give Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) the resources necessary to help the agency enforce immigration laws. The bill would allow the agency to collect fines from illegal aliens for refusing to leave the U.S. after being ordered to do so, using false documents, or engaging in marriage fraud.

H.R. 4547, the Build the Fence Act of 2016, would direct the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to complete the required southwest border fencing by December 31, 2017. The bill would also amend the Secure Fence Act of 2006 to direct DHS to achieve operational control over U.S. international land and maritime borders by the same date.

Honduran Migration Caused By Economics Not Violence

The Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) recently found and analyzed a Honduran survey that showed that the increase of Honduran migrants to the U.S. is being caused by economic issues, not violence as the Obama administration has claimed. The survey was conducted by a Honduran research and social action center in Spanish and had 1,571 participants and a 95% confidence level.

Pres. Obama issued the final budget proposal of his tenure, making one last push for passage of “comprehensive immigration reform.” The President’s proposed budget would also end the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) that reimburses state and local prisons for housing criminal illegal aliens. It’s unlikely that Congress will even vote on the proposal.

Today Republican voters again expressed their feelings of betrayal by the Republican Party establishment. Trump was elevated with his promises to defy the party leaders on immigration expansionism in which the concerns of workers are a low priority. The Iowa and New Hampshire contests have been won by the two candidates -- Cruz and Trump -- who have most clearly championed immigration policies that support American workers."
