My Letter To Congress During White House Amnesty Meeting (we'll remind voters next year of all who turned back on U.S. jobless)

Most attendees of the White House amnesty meeting today fell all over themselves to show their concern for helping the 12 million illegal aliens in this country. I sent a letter to each Member of Congress reminding that they may not want to face voters next year and have to answer why they chose giving permanent work permits to illegal aliens while 14 million unemployed Americans couldn't find jobs.

Pelosi to Defer to Senate on Immigration Reform

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), following the same strategy of the last Congress, said Thursday that the House will wait for the Senate to act first on comprehensive immigration reform.

“We have been ready for a long time,” Pelosi said. “We’re ready anytime.”

But in saying she’s “ready,” Pelosi made clear she is waiting for the Senate to take the lead. That’s the same position the Speaker took in the last Congress, deferring to the Senate to take the first crack at the highly controversial subject.

Pres. Barack Obama's Chief of Staff met with reporters on Thursday morning before the President's 2 p.m. meeting with Congressional leaders to kick off the discussion for immigration reform. But Rahm Emanuel said that the White House doesn't believe they have enough votes in Congress for an amnesty bill.

That's true, but it's also not clear that Obama's vision for overhaul is politically viable. Thursday's meeting will include some lawmakers who are dead set against any legalization, and Roy Beck, of the restrictionist group Numbers USA, believes this could be a good sign.

"By having strong senators and congressmen on the other side of this issue," Beck says, Obama "will be able to say, 'Hey, look, see how hard this is going to be? See how far apart we are?' "

“I don’t see it as a kick-off,” said Roy Beck, executive director of Numbers USA, which advocates restricting immigration, referring to the president’s meeting with congressional leaders on Thursday. “I think the fact that they’re bringing in a number of members of Congress who will be defiantly against a comprehensive immigration bill suggests that the purpose of this meeting is more to lay out the broad spectrum that’s there in Congress and show how difficult it will be to put together a majority to pass a bill,” he said.
