No PositionThe bill would support identity fraud and encourage benefits for illegal aliens by diluting the scope and authority of the REAL ID Act. This bill is advertised as a way to give states more legal and financial flexibility for providing secure state identification, but the result is a return to the way states issued IDs prior to 9/11, the 9/11 Commission, and the REAL ID Act.

Last summer, Pres. George Bush signed an executive order that would require government contractors and subcontractors to verify all employees and new hires using the Department of Homeland Security's employment verification system - E-Verify. Pres. Bush's executive order has been delayed four times, and now NumbersUSA has learned that the new Administration will scrap that executive order and replace it with a weaker version.

Washington “Respect for Law” Initiative Seeking Signatures
Proponents of the immigration-reduction initiative 1043 in Washington State, also known as the Washington "Respect for Law" Act of 2009, are collecting signatures toward the 241,153 necessary to advance it for the November 2009 General Election ballot. The deadline for collecting signatures is July 2, 2009.
2009: Kingston E-Verify Amendment to 2010 DHS Appropriations Bill
Supported a committee amendment to require DHS contractors to use E-Verify in 2009.
Rep. ZZlastnameZZ supported the Kingston amendment to H.R. 2892, the 2010 DHS Appropriations bill. The amendment would have required all DHS contractors and subcontractors to use the E-Verify system to verify the eligibility of their employees. The amendment failed in the House Appropriations Committee 23-35.
