Maryland Passes Legislation to Require Proof of Citizenship for Driver's Licenses
In a last minute vote before the Maryland General Assembly session wrapped up, lawmakers passed a bill Monday night that attempts to bring the state into compliance with the Federal REAL ID Act with respect to state-issued driver's licenses. The state was one of four in the country that allowed illegal aliens to obtain a driver's license, but that will end on June 1.
Court Nixes Constitutional Claims By Legal Aliens After Workplace Raid by ICE
The conduct of immigration agents during a raid at a meat processing plant in Minnesota did not violate the constitutional rights of 10 Latino plaintiffs who were working there legally, a federal district court ruled March 27 (Barrera v. DHS, D. Minn., No. 07-3879, 3/27/09).

USCIS Reporting Fewer H-1B Visa Applications
The H-1B filing period for fiscal year 2010 began on April 1, but after nine days, only 62,000 applications for the 65,000 have been filed. Last year, 163,000 applications were filed. H-1B visas are given to high-skilled workers from foreign countries usually in the fields of tech, health care and business.
Result of Citizen Opposition -- One Wealthy Foundation To Stop Funding Amnesty?

A new Zogby International poll shows that Florida voters think that illegal immigration is hurting the Sunshine State by an overwhelming margin. A new FAIR study confirms the poll, finding that illegal immigration costs Florida taxpayers $3.8 billion annually, which is double from 2005.
Standing Up To The Irrational: Can Obama Do It On Immigration? (strange Munoz utterings)
“It just doesn’t seem rational," is how I was quoted in today's New York Times front page story about Pres. Obama supposedly being committed to moving a mass amnesty forward this year. So, for about the next 12 hours, I answered phone calls from print reporters and did radio shows across the country. I told them that Cecilia Munoz is suggesting that her boss, Pres. Obama, thinks it is a good idea to tell 7 million unemployed, less-educated Americans that the jobs they want should continue to be occupied (permanently) by 6 million less-educated illegal foreign workers!
E-Verify Enhancements Planned for 2010
Acting Deputy Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Michael Aytes said during testimony to Congress that several enhancements are planned for E-Verify in fiscal year 2010. Enhancements will include additional data sources, an expanded photo screening tool, and improved usability and efficiency.
