The Supreme Court will consider taking up the Trump Administration’s appeal of a district court ruling that forced it to resume accepting DACA renewal applications. The Administration appealed U.S. District Judge William Alsup's ruling to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court. Now both courts will consider the ruling simultaneously.
A new poll released by Harvard-Harris shows that a staggering percentage of voters on all ends of the political spectrum are overwhelmingly in favor of an immigration deal that would end Chain Migration, eliminate the Visa Lottery, and grant amnesty to DACA recipients.
Forty-six Senators stopped funding of the government Friday night because they didn't get an eighth amnesty that offers endless chains of extended family migration. Chain Migration is the top issue here. The 46 Senators wouldn't accept a DACA amnesty and wouldn't vote to fund the government unless every immigrant gets to have Chain Migration of their relatives, and unless all those relatives get Chain Migration of their relatives, and so forth. Securing America's Future Act vs. Senate Gang of 6 (revised 19JAN2018)
At a Wednesday press conference, ICE and two major sheriffs' associations announced a new set of cooperative agreements designed to enhance public safety, and to help ICE carry out its legal mandate to identify and remove criminal aliens from the United States. These agreements will also protect law enforcement agencies from lawsuits brought by groups like the ACLU that claim ICE detainers are unconstitutional.

Sens. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), and David Perdue (R-Ga.) released a statement today opposing the “Gang of 6” proposal which fails to address any of Pres. Trump’s immigration policy priorities. The proposal, presented by Sens. Durbin (D-Ill.), Flake (R-Ariz.), and Graham (R-S.C.) would not strengthen border security or interior enforcement, fails to end Chain Migration and the Visa Lottery, and would grant amnesty, not only to previous DACA recipients, but to all Dreamers and their parents as well.
On this anniversary day of the death of civil rights icon Barbara Jordan, it sounds like many of the congressional amnesty champions today regard her ideas for immigration reform as too extreme right-wing to even be a part of compromise negotiations.
