Border Patrol officers and union leaders do not seem convinced that the President’s upcoming visit to the southern border will prove productive or even expose Biden to the true breadth of the border crisis his administration helped create.
The President revealed on Wednesday that he intended to visit the southern border “to see what’s going on” with the hopes of observing “peace and security.” For context, the last time Biden visited the border was in 2008 when he drove by it, according to former Press Sec. Jen Psaki.
National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd told the Daily Caller News Foundation:
After two years, it is past time Biden come to the border to survey first hand the chaos he created.
While I expect President Biden will deflect and possibly lie about his failures, similar to what both of his White House Press Secretaries have done, I am happy that certain media outlets have attempted to present the truth to the American people and be the watchdogs necessary to bring about positive change, which is undoubtedly the catalyst for this visit.
Hopefully our country will get a positive outcome from the President’s visit, but I won’t hold my breath.
Despite U.S. Customs and Border Protection encountering a record-breaking 2.3 million migrants at the southern border in fiscal year 2022, President Biden recently told the media that he has yet to visit the border because he had “more important things” to do.
According to two border officials who spoke with The Daily Caller on the condition of anonymity, some are worried Biden’s potential visit will not result in him seeing the full extent of the crisis. For example, the agents explain that Border Patrol will likely clear border facilities in El Paso and release the aliens into local communities ahead of Biden’s visit. One agent stated:
That’s what they always do. Anytime some brass from D.C. comes, the tents get emptied, everyone gets released/processed expeditiously to give the illusion that it’s under control.
