Fla. Gov. Ron DeSantis Steps in to Assist Texas and Arizona with Border Crisis

Published:

Through a little-known national program called the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), designed as a mutual aid system between states, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced he is sending much needed and requested help to Texas & Arizona.

The assistance from Fla. will come as U.S. border states continue to battle the devastating effects of a federal government doing everything in their power to encourage and entice more uncontrolled mass immigration - despite a clear popular opinion in the country that immigration should be restricted.

At the request of Governor Ducey of Arizona and Governor Abbott of Texas, Governor DeSantis is sending state and local police and law enforcement units from the Sunshine State to help pick up where the federal government has either failed or simply refused to act in defense of their citizens.

For context, in the month of May 2021, alone, 8,023 apprehensions were made by CBP Office of Field Operations at ports of entry, and 172,011 apprehensions were made by CBP Border Patrol after aliens illegally crossed the southern border.

Unfortunately, despite the Biden Administration’s continued efforts to deceive the American public with repeated lies about the border being “closed” or even “secure,” over one-third of aliens arrested for illegal entry in May were released into the United States. In addition, 38% of encounters in May were aliens who had at least one prior encounter in the previous 12 months.

As another expected result of the Biden Administration’s open border policies, attempts at drug trafficking and human trafficking have also increased. FBI Director Christopher Wray recently said under oath that there is “no question” that Mexican cartel activity has crossed the border into the U.S. The Texas Department of Public Safety seized nearly 95 pounds of fentanyl in Texas in just Jan-April this year. That equates to 21.5 million lethal doses.

To make matters worse, according to multiple former border patrol agents, children are again being used as tools in smuggling operations where unrelated aliens pose as a family to make their way across the border where they will use the unrelated minor as a key to release. That’s because these attempts are now unchecked by the Biden Administration, which has put pressure on officials to release “families” within 72 hours and canceled policies that worked to root out fake families and bogus asylum claims. As a direct result of these policies, according to a recent UNICEF report, there are nine times more migrant children in Mexico than there were at the start of 2021.

Governor DeSantis announced that he will be sending officers from The Florida Highway Patrol, The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office, and Walton County Sheriff’s Office.

Florida Governor DeSantis stated:

America’s border security crisis impacts every state and every American. The Biden Administration ended policies implemented by President Trump that were curbing illegal immigration, securing our border, and keeping Americans safe. Governors Abbott and Ducey recently sent out a call for help to every state in the nation, needing additional law enforcement manpower and other resources to aid with border security. I’m proud to announce today that the state of Florida is answering the call. Florida has your back.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody backed up the Governors statement, adding:

As Attorney General, I am dedicated to ending human trafficking, protecting our children from sexual predators, and fighting the opioid crisis now claiming 21 lives a day in our state, but President Biden is hurting, not helping us achieve these vital public safety goals. The crisis the President created at our southern border makes all of us less safe, and I am proud to stand with Governor DeSantis as he tries to fix the President’s disaster at the border to protect Floridians.

Florida police and other law enforcement agents sent to the border will help supplement the Texas Rangers, local Texas police, and several Arizona law enforcement divisions currently overwhelmed after effectively being abandoned by the federal government.
