As the spending bill for 2015 makes its way through the Senate, Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Mike Lee (R-Utah), and Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) are pushing for a vote to defund President Obama's executive amnesty, which the version the House passed last night would not do.
The senators are hoping to get the defund vote onto the Senate floor as a "point of order", which would force a procedural vote on the issue without Senator Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) having to introduce it. A Senate aide familiar with that plan said they remain optimistic that there will be a vote.
If successful in introducing the measure, the vote would take place late Friday night.
