Public Description:
S. 2691, the Securing Knowledge, Innovation, and Leadership Act, would vastly increase: (1) the cap on H-1B visas (i.e., a minimum cap of 200,000 per year); (2) the number of employment-based (EB) visas available each year; and (3) the number of aliens who are exempt from direct numerical limitations on immigration; would extend the period of lawful admission for certain nonimmigrant alien “intracompany transferees”; would “streamline” the process by which employers and nonimmigrant aliens (or the spouse and/or children thereof) apply for admission as EB immigrants; and would expand eligibility for student visas.
