As I wish you a celebratory Independence Day, we are reminded that true independence requires continuing vigilance and efforts of all citizens.
I am thankful to all citizens who are among the nearly 3 million who are part of the NumbersUSA activism and educational network. Your actions these last two weeks in urging Members of Congress to resist resettlement of the border-surge illegal aliens in their states have definitely been in keeping with the efforts of our nation's founders who sought to create a national community with a government dedicated to serving the interests of the members of that community.
None of that independence can exist for any people without clearly defined and clearly enforced borders.
Our identity as a nation is severely threatened at this moment by what our governmental, business, religious and media leaders have done to encourage the current storming of our southwest border by uninvited foreign nationals.
That so many of those arriving are teenagers and even children cannot mask the fact that our nation is extremely vulnerable at the moment. Once mob action begins, it is difficult to stop. And it is difficult to keep from growing exponentially.
Unless our government quickly shows that it will turn back the current Surge, a much larger -- and more muscular -- Surge could follow to exploit the perceived weakness of our leaders. As my gumballs video has portrayed since 1996, there are more than 5 BILLION people in the world more impoverished than the average Mexican. The lack of willingness by our leaders to show they believe our borders are essential could easily entice one-tenth of 1% of those 5 billion to run through the hole that the current Surge has created. One-tenth of 1% of the world's impoverished is 50 million -- 400% the size of the current official population of illegal aliens in this country.
At some point a surge of foreigners gets so large that a government has to either resort to military force and bloodshed, or give in to chaos and the collapse as a nation. I cannot believe that this Administration will allow us to get to either of those options. But I do wonder how much chaos it intends to inflict on our communities before it decides that it has no other choice than to do what it should have done long ago and SHOW the world (not TELL it) that this is a nation with clearly defined boundaries, just like any viable nation has to be.
Would our nation somehow be anti-humanitarian if we send back the current "border surgers" in order to re-establish the rule of law on our southwest border? I will post a blog later this weekend in which I will argue that the Administration's current relocations of the "border surgers" into communities all across the United States is the action that will create the truly anti-humanitarian results of more danger, more rape, more injuries, more robbery, more illness and more death among the Central Americans.
