Voted in favor of the motion to recommit H.R. 6429, the STEM Jobs Act of 2012. The bill would eliminate the visa lottery program that grants 55,00 visas annually on a random basis. This motion was an attempt by House Democrats to remove the visa lottery elimination from the bill. This motion, if passed, would have replaced the STEM Jobs Act with Rep. Zoe Lofgren's H.R. 6412, legislation that adds more than 50,000 employment based visas and NOT end the visa lottery. The motion failed 157-231.
