Biden Admin. Expected to Unveil Taxpayer-Funded Program Providing Legal Assistance to Illegal Aliens

The Biden Administration is expected to unveil a new federal program bankrolled by American taxpayers that will provide “legal services” to illegal aliens who unlawfully crossed the southern border, including the record-shattering two million aliens who crossed the border in calendar year 2021.

First reported by Axios, the federal program would mandate that private contractors working within the Department of Homeland Security provide “a range of legal services” to illegal border jumpers and other illegal aliens arriving at border stations in Texas, Arizona, and California.

The Axios report states:

It will be for migrants attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, those in Border Patrol custody, in the [Remain in Mexico] program, or who may be enrolled in [Remain in Mexico] or otherwise placed in deportation proceedings, according to the published documents on SAM.gov.

Increasing migrant access to legal services has long been a goal of the administration… Contractors will explain the migrants’ options for staying in the U.S. while deportation orders are pending, as well as general immigration court practices and procedures.

Critics argue that the taxpayer-funded expansion of legal services for illegal aliens is simply part of a larger open borders plan by the Biden Administration to transform the southern border into nothing more than a checkpoint for foreign nationals who wish to enter the nation - regardless of whatever impact their presence may have on local communities or the labor market.

As Breitbart News reported in early December, the Biden Administration’s goal “envisions ‘European-style reception centers’ where illegal aliens are immediately met with taxpayer-funded medical services, legal consultations, and educational programs" - before being released into the nation’s interior.

Breitbart adds that illegal aliens are already receiving taxpayer-funded attorneys in major American cities to help fight the deportation cases of criminal aliens. The article concludes with the disheartening report from the Immigration and Reform Law Institute, which revealed that “taxpayers in 22 cities with deportation defense programs will be charged at least $5.2 million to provide illegal aliens with free lawyers in Fiscal Year 2022.”
