On the Motion (Daschle Motion To Suspend Rule XXII RE: Amdt. No. 4184)

Voted against an amnesty for illegal aliens in 2000
Sen. ZZlastnameZZ voted against a procedural vote to include an amnesty for illegal aliens from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Haiti in the Senate H-1B bill (S.2045). This was not necessarily a vote against the amnesty but rather a vote against including it with the H-1B bill. The move to include the amnesty with the H-1B legislation failed43-55 in a procedural vote on the Senate floor.

Voted against importing more foreign workers in 2000.
Sen.ZZlastnameZZ voted against S.2045, the Abraham foreign worker bill to increase the number of foreign high-tech workers. On the heels of the release of a GAO report finding no proof of a high-tech worker shortage and evidence of abuse in the H-1B program, Sen. ZZlastnameZZ voted against this foreign worker bill that contained no worker protections. The bill passed the Senate 96-1.

On the Motion (DeMint Motion to Suspend Rule 22 Re: DeMint Amdt. No. 4464)

Voted to Support Arizona's Immigration Enforcement Law in 2010
Sen. ZZlastnameZZ voted in favor of the DeMint amendment to H.R. 4213, the American Workers, State, and Business Relief Act of 2010. The amendment, SA 4464, would have prevented the Department of Justice from participating in any lawsuit against Arizona's immigration enforcement law, SB 1070. Unfortunately, the amendment failed 43-55 on the Senate floor.

On the Amendment S.Amdt. 1399 to S.Amdt. 1373 to H.R. 2892 (Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2010)

Supported an amendment to complete 700 miles of border fencing in 2009
Sen. ZZlastnameZZ supported the DeMint amendment to H.R. 2892, the DHS Appropriations bill. The DeMint amendment mandates that the 700 miles of border fencing (which was previously approved and appropriated for) be completed. The DeMint amendment passed 54-44.

On the Amendment S.Amdt. 1157 to S.Amdt. 1150 to S. 1348 (Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007)

Voted in favor of amendment to strip amnesty provisions from S. 1348 in 2007
Sen. ZZlastnameZZ voted in favor of the Vitter Amendment (SA 1157) to S. 1348. The Vitter Amendment would strike the amnesty provisions of the bill. The Vitter Amendment failed by a vote of 29 to 66.
