Border: H.R. 939 (2007)

H.R. 939 would authorize the Department of Homeland Security to request that the Defense Department assign regular or reserve components of the military to assist Customs and Border Protection and ICE agents in certain border protection functions, including preventing the entry of illegal aliens into the country. It also would require that a training program be established to ensure that members of the military receive general instruction regarding law enforcement in border areas, and would have required a civilian law enforcement officer to accompany a member of the military at all times.
