The Center for Immigration Studies has uncovered a 75-page document prepared by Munoz in 1990 that responds to the 1986 amnesty bill. In the document, Munoz and NCLR call for the repeal of the I-9 workplace verification system.

Only 36% of respondents think most or all illegal aliens should be allowed to stay in the United States.

Immigration proposals could double annual flows

We are told that reforming immigration policy and combating climate change are two key policy goals of President Obama as he begins his second term. But there is no evidence that the Obama administration sees any connection between them. This despite the fact that the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has identified population growth as one of the two key drivers of climate change; and that most of the increase in U.S. greenhouse gas emissions in the past two decades has occurred due to population growth, while per capita emissions have remained relatively flat.

Daily Amnesty Update: On Immigration, White House = Gang of Eight

Sen. Hagan

Published:

More than a few columnists and political analysts have picked up on the fact that there's not much difference between the Senate Gang of Eight's immigration principles and the leaked White House immigration plan that Gang Member Marco Rubio so loathes.

In Tuesday's Washington Post, liberal columnist and MSNBC political analyst Eugene Robinson wrote

No Difference Between Leaked White House Plan and Gang of Eight Plan

Sen. McCain & Pres. Obama

Published:

While Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said the White House's leaked immigration plan was an attempt to politicize the immigration debate and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said it would be "dead on arrival", the actual details of the two plans are essentially the same - they both grant instant amnesty to the nation's 11 million illegal aliens and neither bill does anything to stop future illegal immigration or protect America's unemployed.

Sen. Sessions: Very little difference between WH and Senate plans

Sen. Sessions

Published:

Sen. Jeff Session (R-Ala.) said on Monday that the White House immigration proposal leaked over the weekend is very similar to the outline presented by the Gang of Eight last month. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) has tried to distance the Senate plan from the White House's, but Sen. Sessions noted that both plans grant all 11 million illegal aliens with the right to work and live in the United States on day one.

White House Defends Leaked Amnesty Plan

White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough appeared on Sunday talk shows to defend a draft amnesty plan that was leaked just a day before. McDonough said the plan was developed for backup purposes and indicated the White House still wants Congress to lead the legislative drafting effort. In response, Sen. Since there’s still no "comprehensive immigration reform" bill in either the House or the Senate, there's a lot of uncertainty about what a final bill may look like. But one thing is becoming clear; there are lots of opposing opinions on what should be and shouldn’t be in the bill, and those differences were on display during Wednesday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

Obama, 'Gang of Eight' duck the hardest question

Immigration policy comes down to two questions: "Who gets in?" and "How many get in?" In the end, Washington has to decide the numbers. One hundred and fifty million adults worldwide want to permanently immigrate to the U.S. today, according to a Gallup poll. The United States government is going to say "no" to most them. But the Senate and the White House refuse to acknowledge reality. They have presented Utopian proposals where anyone in the world can get a U.S. work permit except terrorists and ax murderers.

Sen. Sessions Responds to Pres. Obama's call for amnesty during State of the Union

Immigration Reform Issue: The Effect on the Budget

It’s hard to say with precision what impact offering citizenship would have on the budget, but the chances are good that it would cost the government money. Half to three-quarters of illegal immigrants pay taxes, according to studies reviewed in a 2007 report by the Congressional Budget Office. And they are relatively inexpensive, compared with Americans of similar incomes. Their children can attend public schools at government expense — putting a burden on state and local budgets.

We had hoped that the new voices of Senators Rubio (R-FL) and Lee (R-UT)[both members of the so-called Senate "Gang of Eight"] would bring some new perspective to an immigration proposal so we were especially disappointed to see their Amnesty 2.0 proposal be nothing more than a rehash of the failed 2007 amnesty.
