On Wednesday, Secretary of State John Kerry announced the Refugee Admissions Program will add an undefined number of people from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. The effort is meant to head off illegal migration from these countries, which has spiked in recent months. President Obama the same day authorized $70 million for resettling refugees in the United States, the largest increase ever.
On Tuesday night, in his final State of the Union address, President Obama said that “Anyone claiming that America’s economy is in decline is peddling fiction.” While that statement may not be what is technically referred to as a political whopper, a la John McCain’s pronouncement in 2008 that “The fundamentals of the economy are strong;” or even Obama’s own promise that the 2009 stimulus bill would fund hundreds of “shovel-ready” projects, it is misleading, nonetheless.

REAL ID would require use of the secure IDs to board airplanes among other things. Its repeal would make it easier for illegal aliens to live and travel in the United States. The Senate companion bill is S. 2440 introduced by Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.)
