A bill that would target jurisdictions that enact sanctuary policies is moving through Pennsylvania’s state Senate. The bill is similar to Sen. Vitter’s Stop Sanctuary Cities Act that was blocked in the Senate in July.
The number of illegal alien minors coming across the border is steadily increasing hitting a record high for the month of October according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data. Around 5,000 unaccompanied minors were caught at the US-Mexico in October, double the number from October 2014 during the border surge.

The Pew Research Center released a new report on Thursday that is well-timed given Martin O’Malley’s emphatic, and unfounded, claim that “net immigration from Mexico last year was zero.” We pointed out that O’Malley was conflating legal and illegal immigration, and that he either misinterpreted or misrepresented data from 2007-2014 in order to make the point that illegal immigration was a thing of the past, so therefore is is unreasonable for Americans to demand a secure border.
The Obama administration formally asked the Supreme Court to review and rule on the court case that is delaying his Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA) executive amnesty. The petition was filed exactly one year after Pres. Obama announced several executive actions on immigration.
The House passed H.R. 4038, the American Security Against Foreign Enemies (SAFE) Act, which would stop Syrian and Iraqi refugees from entering the country unless certified by the heads of the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Director of National Intelligence. Republicans unanimously voted for the bill and were joined by 47 Democrats, giving them a veto-proof majority of 289 "yes" votes.
H.R. 4089, the Student Visa Security Improvement Act, would require DHS employees to review the applications, conduct in-person interviews where appropriate, and conduct on-site reviews of applications and supporting documentation with respect to student and exchange program visa applicants prior to final visa adjudication.
According to the most recent University of Texas/Texas Tribune Poll, Texan voters say illegal immigration is the greatest threat to the U.S. The poll was conducted before the Paris terrorist attacks and listed 11 choices for participants to chose which one they thought presented the greatest threat to America.
In light of the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, Vice-Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), says that the U.S. should take extra precautions and temporarily suspend the visa waiver program with Europe.
H.R. 4074 would halt all refugee resettlement until both chambers of Congress passed a joint resolution. The bill would also require the Secretary of Homeland Security to submit a report to Congress each year detailing the nationality of resettled refugees.
