Illegal Immigration Enforcement and Social Security Protection Act of 2007

SupportH.R. 98, the Illegal Immigration Enforcement and Social Security Protection Act, would establish a mandatory employment eligibility verification system in which employers would be required to verify new hires’ eligibility to work in the United States; and would upgrade Social Security cards’ security features by including: (1) a digitized photograph of the rightful bearer; (2) an encrypted machine-readable electronic identification strip unique to the rightful bearer; and (3) additional anti-tampering, -counterfeiting, and -fraud security features.
